It was Henry that relocated
from Gloucester to Twickenham. The move was probably work related, he
being a smith / coach-builder.
It was thought that he married Edith [surname not known] of Cheltenham in about 1838. But subsequent research has shown that in 1841, Henry was living in Bell Lane, Twickenham with a woman called Charlotte born ~1816 and their daughter, Ellen who was born in Twickenham in 1839. It is assumed that Charlotte is either a mistake in the census record entry, or that Charlotte was the first given name, because in the next census, 1851, Henry is living with Edith (from Gloucestershire). Further, and most importantly, Ellen's baptism record cites Edith as her mother.
The second child of the union of Henry and Edith, no trace can be found of a marriage, Henry William was born in 1842 in Twickenham. Their address was 5 Coles Building, London Road, Twickenham. Their second son Frederick Walter was born 1846. By 1861 the family had moved to Back Common Road, later renamed Colne Road, which is close to Twickenham Green. By 1894 they had moved to 18 Second Cross Road. The road was later renamed First Cross Road and it faces the Green.
Henry died in the 1890s. Edith survived him and is shown as living with the family in 1899 when she apparently died in December 1899 and in January 1900 is buried in Twickenham Cemetery.
